Sinisa BERJAN Bio-Résumé

Prof. Sinisa Berjan has been serving as the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the People’s Republic of China since August 2023. Prior to this, he held the position of Ambassador to Japan from 2019 to 2023. He was the Vice-President for Science, Research, and Innovation at the University of East Sarajevo (Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina) and served as the Head of the Department of Agroeconomy and Rural Development at the university’s Faculty of Agriculture. Prof. Berjan’s academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (2005) and a Bachelor’s degree in Geography (2018) from the University of East Sarajevo. He pursued a Master’s degree in Sustainable Rural Development at the University of Bologna, Italy, graduating in 2009. In 2014, he earned his Ph.D. from the University of Bologna in the field of International Cooperation and Sustainable Development Policies. An accomplished scholar, prof. Berjan has authored more than 180 scientific publications and actively participated in numerous national and international educational projects. He is Distinguished Professor at Northwest Normal University (China) since June 2024 and Honorary professor at Jiangsu University (China) since October 2025. His contributions to scientific research and education have earned him several prestigious national and international awards. In addition to his academic and diplomatic work, Dr. Berjan has a decade of experience in politics, having served as a member of both local and regional parliaments. He speaks Serbian, English, Italian, and Russian language.
